TN Police Constable syllabus

Part I tests Tamil grammar and literature. Part II has two sections: General Knowledge (science, history, geography, polity, economics and current affairs) and Psychology (communication, numerical and logical ability, and information handling).

How to prepare for the TN Police exam

  • Make Part I safe early. The Tamil test only needs 32 of 80, but missing it ends your attempt. A few weeks of grammar practice takes it off the table.
  • Put most of your hours into Part II. 70 of the 100 merit marks come from it, and cut-offs are high: the 2025 general-category cut-off for men was reported at 61 of 70.
  • Treat Psychology as scoring. Its 25 questions are reasoning and numerical puzzles that improve quickly with practice.
  • Use the Samacheer Kalvi textbooks (Classes 6–10) for science, history, geography and polity.
  • Train for the run alongside your studies. The Endurance Test and PET come within weeks of the written result, and PET marks decide close ranks.
  • Sit timed mock tests and go back over every wrong answer a few days later.
