On this page

The TNPSC Group 4 result is published on TNPSC's website (tnpsc.gov.in) and on tnpscexams.in. You enter your register number and date of birth, and the page shows your marks along with your overall rank, communal rank and special-category rank. The most recent one, the TNPSC Group 4 result 2025, came out on 22 October 2025, a little over three months after the 12 July exam. The next result is for the exam on 10 January 2027, and TNPSC hasn't announced a date for it yet.

How to check the TNPSC Group 4 result

This is how the process went for the 2025 result, as TNPSC explained in Press Release No. 142/2025 of 22 October 2025 (listed on the exam dashboard).

  1. Open tnpsc.gov.in or tnpscexams.in. TNPSC puts new results on its home page. The link also stays on the exam dashboard entry for that year's notification, under "Written Examination Results: Marks and Rank Position".

  2. Enter your register number and date of birth. The register number is the one printed on your hall ticket.

  3. Read your marks and ranks. TNPSC publishes the marks, overall rank, communal rank and special-category rank "in interactive mode", one candidate at a time.

  4. Save or print the page. You will want your rank at hand when the certificate-verification lists come out.

Is there a TNPSC Group 4 result PDF to download?

Not for the marks. In 2025 the result was a lookup page, not a PDF of everyone's scores. The PDFs TNPSC posts after the result are lists of register numbers: who is called for certificate verification, and who is called for counselling. The selection list comes last. The one for the 2022 exam, for example, printed each selected candidate's rank, total marks, register number, date of birth, community and gender (TNPSC PDF).

What your marks and rank mean

The paper is out of 300, and two minimums apply to every community: at least 60 of 150 in Part A (Tamil), or Parts B and C aren't marked at all, and at least 90 of 300 overall. Clearing them makes you eligible. It doesn't get you a post. In 2025 about 11.4 lakh candidates wrote the exam (the exam-day figure reported by Hindu Tamil Thisai) for a few thousand posts, so it's your rank that decides things.

  • Overall rank is your place among everyone who wrote.

  • Communal rank is your place within your own community (BC, MBC/DC, SC and so on). The reserved turns are filled from it.

  • Special-category rank applies if you claimed a category with its own share. The 2022 selection list, for instance, marks PSTM (Tamil-medium) candidates in its special-category column.

How the last rank called in each slot turns into a "cut-off" for each community and post is explained in Group 4 cut-off marks.

TNPSC doesn't revalue answer sheets. The notification says plainly that requests for revaluation, or for the reasons someone failed, won't be entertained. Answer-key mistakes are handled earlier, through the online challenge window after the tentative keys come out.

What the dates show:

  • The result came when TNPSC said it would. The press release notes that the website had announced October 2025 for the result, and the marks went up on 22 October, 102 days after the exam.

  • Posts kept arriving after the result. The 645 posts were added on 3 December, when counselling lists were already out. With the 727 added in September, TNPSC's own running total reached 5,307 posts, against 3,935 at the start (Addendum 7C/2025).

  • Counselling runs in rounds. After each round TNPSC publishes the vacancies still unfilled and calls more candidates from further down the rank list. A year after the exam it was still at it: Phase IV in July 2026, and the forest posts (Forest Guard, Forest Watcher), which need a physical test, got their onscreen verification list on 19 June 2026 and a sportsperson-quota counselling list on 14 August 2026.

The 2024 cycle went the same way: exam on 9 June 2024, result on 28 October 2024, the onscreen verification list on 7 November, the first counselling list on 8 January 2025, and the final selection list for Junior Assistant, Typist and Steno-Typist posts on 18 December 2025 (TNPSC results page).

After the result: CV list, counselling and the selected candidate list

The 2026 notification sets out the same steps, in this order.

  1. Onscreen certificate verification (CV) list. TNPSC shortlists by rank, your claims and the reservation rules: three candidates per vacancy in the general turn and two in the reserved categories for VAO, Junior Assistant, Typist and Steno-Typist posts, and six per vacancy for the forest posts.

  2. Upload your certificates through OTR. You get 10 calendar days. If something is missing or defective, TNPSC gives another 10 days to re-upload it. Miss the first window and you drop out of the selection. Miss the re-upload window and the claim that document supports (community, PSTM, a higher qualification and so on) is rejected.

  3. Forest posts only: a physical standards test and an endurance walk, held only in Chennai.

  4. Physical certificate verification and counselling. Candidates are called by rank again, at 1:3 (general) and 1:1.5 (reserved) for VAO, Junior Assistant and Steno-Typist, and 1:3 and 1:2 for Typist. Bring every original you uploaded. For the 2025 exam this was held at the TNPSC office in Chennai.

  5. Choose your post. You pick in rank order when your turn comes. A post chosen at counselling cannot be changed, and if you miss your date there is no second chance.

  6. Selection list. The final list of selected candidates comes after counselling ends.

The certificates to keep ready are listed in our Group 4 notification 2026 guide.

TNPSC Group 4 result 2026: when can you expect it?

TNPSC has not said. As of 24 October 2026, neither the notification nor the annual planner gives a result date; the planner, published on 3 December 2025, lists only notification and exam dates (TNPSC annual planner). TNPSC also keeps a tentative selection schedule with expected months for results. That is the page to watch after the exam.

What the 2026 notification does fix:

  • Tentative answer keys within six working days of the exam, and online challenges within seven days of their publication.

  • The final answer key before the result. In 2025 the final keys came on 17 November, after the result.

For comparison, here is how long the last three results took:

Exam

Result

Wait

24 July 2022

24 March 2023 (reported)

8 months

9 June 2024

28 October 2024

about 4½ months

12 July 2025

22 October 2025

just over 3 months

The 2022 wait was the long one. About 18.36 lakh candidates sat that exam, and TNPSC explained that its new two-part OMR sheets had to be scanned and checked for errors separately (TNPSC press release). If the wait after 10 January 2027 falls anywhere in the range of the last three cycles (102 days to eight months), the result would come between late April and September 2027. That's arithmetic on past dates, not a TNPSC date, and we'll update this page when TNPSC announces one.

Prepare for 10 January, not for the result

There is nothing to check until 2027. The 11 weeks before the exam are what decide your rank.

Spend them where the marks are. Part A carries half the marks and decides whether the rest of your paper is marked at all, and every answer left blank costs 0.5 mark. You can pick up our 90-day study plan midway, and the Group 4 syllabus lists every unit. Thervu's Group 4 mock tests are timed, in Tamil and English, and marked the moment you submit, with a score for each subject. The questions you get wrong come back in your revision queue.

Thervu is independent and not affiliated with TNPSC. For the exam pattern and eligibility, see the TNPSC Group 4 exam guide.

No. The 2026 exam is on 10 January 2027, so there is no result yet, and as of 24 October 2026 TNPSC has not announced a result date. The latest written-exam result is for the 2025 exam, published on 22 October 2025.

How do I check my TNPSC Group 4 result?

Go to tnpsc.gov.in or tnpscexams.in, open the Group 4 result link and enter your register number (it is on your hall ticket) and date of birth. The page shows your marks, overall rank, communal rank and special-category rank.

When was the TNPSC Group 4 result 2025 declared?

On 22 October 2025, 102 days after the exam on 12 July 2025. TNPSC had said on its website beforehand that the result would come in October 2025.

Where is the TNPSC Group 4 rank list or selected candidate list?

Your own rank is on your result page; TNPSC does not publish one PDF with everyone's marks. On tnpsc.gov.in it posts lists of register numbers called for certificate verification and counselling, and the selection list once counselling is over. For the 2025 exam, TNPSC's selection schedule showed no selection list yet as of 6 October 2026.

What happens after the TNPSC Group 4 result?

Shortlisted candidates upload their certificates for onscreen verification within 10 days, then attend physical certificate verification and counselling, where posts are chosen in rank order. Forest posts add a physical test in Chennai.

Can I ask for revaluation of my Group 4 answer sheet?

No. The notification says requests for revaluation will not be entertained. Mistakes in the answer key are handled earlier, through the online challenge window that opens when the tentative keys are published.
